On the 11th of November, 2024 Veterans Day, FAITH students and staff held a solemn ceremony at the Assembly Hall to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the end of World War II. The Cadet Corps marched in to unfurl the Ghana flag, while the school body stood together to sing the National Anthem and observed a minute of silence at exactly 11:00 a.m. to pay heartfelt respect and acknowledge the selfless sacrifices of soldiers who maintained world peace at the peril of their lives.
This was followed by an intense debate between Form 4 and Form 5 students on the Treaty of Versailles, which thrilled the audience. Each team brought history to life with passionate discussions about the treaty’s fairness, inspiring deep reflection in both teachers and students.
The reflective mood deepened with Leila Nelson (Form 5) reciting John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields,” which inspired the use of poppies as a symbol of remembrance. Naana Asare-Quartey (Upper 6), Jeanelle Wereko Owusu (Form 4) Gloria Elinam Denanyoh (Upper 6), and Tyler Maxwell Todd (Upper 6) gave an artistic presentation on the crucial work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, emphasizing the enduring commitment to honor the unforgettable sacrifices of fallen heroes.
At the Osu Military Cemetery, a delegation of 20 students and four staff members from Faith Montessori School attended the Remembrance Day ceremony, hosted by the Ghana Armed Forces and attended by dignitaries. FAITH presented a donation of GH₵25,000 to the Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG). Captain Edmund Duah (Rtd), Executive Director of VAG, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the school’s ongoing commitment and support.
