FAITH DECIDES 2023
Leadership is essential in helping students learn the skill of serving others, whilst developing strong relationships within a team for achieving a common goal. in this case, the effective management of the student body by instilling the school’s code of conduct.
On 13th January, Lower 6 students were encouraged to pick nomination forms for the various positions available: Head Girl, Head Boy, Compound/Library, Sports, Entertainment and Chapel Prefects.
After the forms were submitted between the 16th and 17th of January, committee members evaluated them to determine their confidence level, eloquence skills, knowledge in the position they applied for and whether or not they would be able to effectively lead student populations. Those who passed the rigorous questioning process were given the opportunity to present their manifesto to students in order to encourage them to support their cause.
On 26th January, nominees for the various school leadership positions shared their goals and aspirations for the school and its student especially, if given the opportunity to lead. Students cheered and chanted in support of their chosen candidates as they received their visions. These enthusiastic reactions reflected the passion that many students felt about who should lead them forward.
On 27th January, a decision was made at the polls, popularly dubbed “Faith Decides”. Voting began at 6:45am in order to accommodate those who were attending an event later that day. For the first time in FAITH’s history, election results were to be announced on the same day. This way, voting went smoothly and quickly because results were announced by 11:00am, This is the first time election results have been released on the same day as they are voted on – ensuring democratic integrity and transparency for all involved.
At 2:45pm, the bell rang for General Assembly. The air inside the school was tense as everyone waited for the results of the elections. Those who were victorious are Jefferey Owusu Ansah, Head boy; Efua Cann, Head Girl; Kwadwo Abankwah, Compound/Library Prefect; Jayden McCarthy, Sports Prefect; Roland Dakeh, Entertainment Prefect; and Charlene Adu-Darko, Chapel Prefect. Their Assistants are Jeremy Vince Antwi-Dadzie, Head Boy; Nhyira Ama Essien, Head Girl; Farida Konadu, Compound/Library; Princess Agbo, Sports Prefect; and Belinda Lawer, Chapel Prefect.
“FAITH DECIDES” 2023 was a huge success and much is expected from this new batch of prefects.
